Who you gonna call?

Natwest unavailableOn a Bank Holiday, when all branches are closed, there must be another way to get at my money. Thank goodness I'm a user of Online Banking. Think again, kid ... the service (which is flakey at the best of times, doesn't support the latest browsers, and regularly sends Internet Explorer into a death spiral) is out of action, too!

I didn't know Bank Holidays applied to computers!

I've been thinking of switching bank for a long time now, as NatWest have been fobbing me off with assurances they'll support other browsers for more than six months. So, what banks play nice, and support Mac and Linux users?

Firstdirect. I switched last year (from Natwest) and haven't regretted it. I don't know whether they actively support Linux / Mac users, but their service works fine in the ancient version of Galeon I use. Plus, should you need to, you can phone up 24 hours a day and get a real, live, *thinking* human being, without any automated menu systems. I've never even had to be transferred to someone else on any the occasions I've had to the ring them, and they pick up the phone within 3 - 5 rings usually.

LloydsTSB online banking works well with all the browsers I have used for a long while (mainly Konqy). Their site is pretty simple - so is quick and works! Perfect. Also, VirginOne's quite complex web site works fine in Safari.

I use HSBC with Safari with no problems whatsoever. I have to say, their customer service has always been exceptionally good from my perspective. I hate this 'oh, make an appt to see someone' stuff. I want to walk in and talk to someone who can actually make things happen on /my/ terms, not theirs. With HSBC, this happens, imx at least.

I'm with Paul on this one. HSBC are very helpful, friendly, useful etc. And their website works just fine in everything.
