One day I’ll write a proper about page, but for now, why not see my website home page for a bunch of useful links?
Banners
I’ve had (or I’m planning to have) a series of different banners at the top of the blog, denoting changing seasons, drawn from the photos I’ve taken. Here’s the banners I’ve included so far:
- Autumn (21 Oct 2011 to 24 Nov 2011)

- Winter (24 Nov 2011 to 17 Dec 2011): snow, snapped here.

- Christmas (17 Dec 2011 to 5 Jan 2012): holly, snapped approximately here.

- January (5 Jan 2012 to 5 March 2012): shifting sands, snapped approximately here.

- March (5 March 2012 to 10 June 2012): buds, snapped somewhere in Cornwall.

- June (10 June 2020 to 10 Sept 2012): boat, snapped approximately here in Dieppe.

- September (10 September 2012 to 27 March 2013): bench, snapped somewhere in Richmond Park.

- Easter (27 March 2013 to 4 April 2013): hidden egg, snapped approximately here.

- Spring 2013 (4 April 2013 to …): buds, snapped somewhere in Cornwall. A re-run from last year.

Hi, I wanted to thank you for your article about installing Windows 7 without a superdrive. One thing though that I’d like to comment on but can’t because of the age of the post is that when the VMWare VM is started you must go into startup disk and select the CD/DVD drive. Just thought you should know so it could be added for anyone else who follows you great guide “Installing Windows on a Macbook Pro without a Superdrive”
Thanks again.
Just wanted to thank you for the tips on getting W7 installed without Superdrive. I wanted to share my config so that it can be helpful for others.
MBP 4.1, Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your excellent post on topic of building Firefox OS on Mountain Loin, http://www.andrewsavory.com/blog/2012/2463. Using your blog, I was able to make some progress.
At this point, I am stuck at the same place, “unknown type name ‘PaletteHandle’” as you mention in your blog this seems related to incompatible sdl-1.2.12 on lion. was wondering if you ever figured a workaround to this and got a emulator build working on Mac.
thanks
Hey, I just read your Installing Firefox OS on Mountain Lion and I believe you’re looking too much into it. All you have to do is:
1. download Xcode 4.3 and right click > “Show package contents”
2. Go to: /Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platforms/Developer/SDKs/
and move the MacOSX10.6.sdk folder to the directory where all your other SDKs are.
3. Change back the build file to its original
Then, build it again. Once you get that far you’ll have a few more problems but this page will keep you sane:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Firefox_OS_build_prerequisites?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Firefox_OS%2FFirefox_OS_build_prerequisites
Thanks for the feedback, Chris. Things have almost certainly improved for building FirefoxOS since that article was written, so you are probably right.
